Cheryl and Allen Poklemba of Taylorsville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Alexa Lea Poklemba, to James William Hartner, son of John and Veronica Hartner of Woodbine.

A 2002 graduate of McDonogh School in Owings Mills, and a 2006 graduate from the University of Richmond, the bride-to-be has her bachelor’s degree in rhetoric and communication studies.

She is employed as  the director of marketing and communications for Fusion Network Systems and lives in Middletown.

A 2000 graduate of Glenelg Country School and of Class 13 of Frederick County Fire and Rescue, Hartner is employed as a Frederick County firefighter.

The couple is planning a May 2009 wedding.
