> Loyola College of Maryland announced that Sarah Eason completed a Master of Science degree in clinical psychology.

She graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2003 after being awarded the alumni scholarship from Catonsville High School, Class of 1999.

> Meg Tippett, a third-grader at Hillcrest Elementary School, placed fifth in the Baltimore County Fire Department's fire-prevention poster contest and received a $75 savings bond.

The annual competition coincided with National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 8-14.

This year's theme was "Prevent Cooking Fires: Watch What You Heat."
