Scott and Susan Messick of Ocean City, formerly of Humble, Texas, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Anne, to Raymond Causey Jr., son of Raymond and Mimi Causey Sr., of Parkton.

The bride-to-be, a 2000 graduate of Humble High School, graduated from Mount St. Mary's College in 2004. She is employed as an account manager in the personal lines department at HMS Insurance Associates in Brooklandville.

The prospective groom, a 2001 graduate of Hereford High School, is president of Causey Contracting, a contracting and remodeling firm.

A December wedding in Baltimore is planned.

Joerger-Sparks

Deborah and Sean Sellman, of Monkton, announce the engagement of their daughter Lauren Noel Joerger, to Jason Sparks, son of Walter Sparks, of Parkville, Pa., and Virginia Sparks, of Upperco.

The bride-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Mercy High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in political science, with a minor in international studies, from Towson University in June. She serves as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician with the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company.

The prospective groom, a 1995 graduate of Hereford High School, has been a firefighter and emergency medical technical since 1994 with the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company and holds the rank of lieutenant. He is employed as an automotive technician with Frankel Acura in Cockeysville.

The wedding is planned for May.
